Paula's babies are a week younger than Ginger's so it was a few days later (today) that they were ready to move to the playpen. Both litters are in one large playpen which has a dividing panel in the middle to keep the litters seperate. For the first 2-3 weeks each litter stays with their mom in a seperate room, but once the moms start spending time away from the puppies and let the other dogs

I moved Ginger's puppies to the big playpen on Tuesday as they are big enough to move about and need the room to grow. You can see from the photo the playpen is one of the fold-up pens available from lots of pet supply catalogs (they're great for lots of uses when training a puppy). At 2 weeks old tomorrow Ginger's babies are just starting to crack their eyes open and are making little barking sounds. They're getting a bit more active in the box and are uniformly fat little fur balls. Oh my.....we are big melon shaped girls at this point. Ginger is due next week and Paula is due the week after. Both girls are moving slower, sleeping alot and have to be lifted into and out of the bed each night/morning. They are both gotten pretty quiet and rest alot at this stage of the game. My mother has one of the campers, Griffin, who is a George & Ginger son - now a beautiful fully grown male - very dramatically colored sable and white. Like all dogs who are the principal animal in their homes, Griffin is very into whatever my Mom does and thus the note from her this evening is fun and I can just see all this happening.
